What is Donate My Card's relationship with the non-profits?
Donate My Card is a registered, commercial fundraising organization. We are
contracted by our partner charities to collect monies from pre-paid debit and
gift cards.
How much does the Donate My Card program cost?
There is no cost to organizations to sign up with Donate My Card, nor any
monthly or annual fees to participate. Donate My Card charges transaction fees
of 20% out of funds over $10 and 30% out of funds under $10 collected. Fees
offset handling, processing, technology, administrative and other costs
required to collect and disperse these funds. Donate My Card provides each
organization with a branded donation page and custom marketing tools to help
ensure a successful campaign; there is no additional charge for these services.
Are Donate My Card transactions safe and secure?
Yes. Donate My Card uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to encrypt all
data submitted to and from our site over the web. SSL renders donors' personal
information, including credit card numbers, virtually unreadable to anyone who
intercepts it. SSL is supported by all major browsers, including Microsoft
Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari and Google Chrome.
Does my non-profit need a merchant account to receive online donations
using Donate My Card?
No. Donate My Card processes all online pre-paid debit and gift card
transactions for non-profits.
Does my non-profit need to comply with state registration requirements in
order to accept online donations?
While Internet regulations are being debated throughout the fifty states and at
the national level, at present, more than forty states require non-profits to
be registered. Non-profits that solicit donations in a given state may be
required to register as a charity in that state. Donate My Card is a registered
commercial fundraising organization in all requiring states. We recommend that
our non-profit partners seek professional advice for complying with applicable
laws governing charitable appeals in their respective states.
Are donors names kept confidential?
Yes. Donate My Card never sells, trades or rents donor information, and our
site has security measures to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of donor
and donation data.
What pre-paid debit and gift cards can donors use when giving through
Donate My Card?
Donate My Card is currently accepting donations utilizing pre-paid VISA®,
MasterCard®, American Express® and Discover® debit and gift cards.

Donate My Card is currently processing pre-paid gift and debit cards in U.S.
currency and from U.S. IP addresses only.

When a contribution is made, a thank-you letter is automatically emailed to the
donor, acknowledging the amount and charity the donation went to.
How are gift card funds distributed to non-profits?
Donations are processed immediately and held in a special trust account set up
solely to hold and disperse these funds. Funds are dispersed to the specific
charity within 30 days from receipt or as required by individual state laws.
How does the non-profit know its getting the correct amount of funds that
were collected by the Donate My Card program?
Donate My Card provides regular reporting to each participating non-profit
detailing the specifics of their account activity. Participating non-profit
affiliates have the right to audit the above-mentioned account as outlined in
their participation agreements.
